Berlin – amenable metropolis at the heart of Europe

Berlin is the exciting and cosmopolitan city at the centre of Europe. As the
German capitol, it represents the entire country and serves as the venue
for important political and economic decisions. Besides the parliament, the cabinet, embassies and state representatives, many important economic and scientific organizations have their offices here.

Berlin is teeming with activity, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. People from over 183 nations contribute to the refined diversity of the city. With its shopping, recreational and cultural offerings Berlin is on par with cities such as Paris, New York and Tokyo. Whether concerts, receptions and balls or international film, theater and sport events: the riches of the city are manifold. Three opera houses, eight symphony and chamber orchestras, over 150 theaters as well as a respectable museum and gallery landscape have formed Berlin’s reputation as an important cultural centre. The Berlin music, design, art and fashion scenes have developed into a determining economic factor for the city and earned their place in the international spotlight. And there’s nothing left to desire when it comes to the culinary pleasures awaiting you here. Over 9,000 restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs of sundry nationalities invite their guests to enjoy international specialties and a teeming night life.

Beyond the lively diversity of the city centre, exists the serenity and ease of friendly, quiet Berlin neighborhoods. Thanks to the city’s excellent public transportation, it’s easy to enjoy comfortable residential living and still be at the centre of action in no time.

Berlin’s social infrastructure with health care of all kinds, day care and schools, as well as counseling and leisure facilities contributes to a high quality of life.

The capitol city region of Berlin-Brandenburg is one of the most economically promising areas in the country. Berlin has developed into an attractive location for medicine, biotechnology, telecommunication, fashion, music and high-tech as well as modern service businesses. Its strength of innovation in economic, media and business development puts it in the top league of the European Union. Over 400 expositions, congresses and other events with over 1.3 million visitors make Berlin the most important conference destination in the nation.

Thanks to the new main train station (the largest train junction in Europe), the Schönefeld International Airport (currently under construction) and an outstanding public transportation system, Berlin is connected with the whole of Europe and the world.

And Berlin is growing every day. Its prospects for development are inarguably among the most impressive in the world.
